Tekuma Wins the 15K MIT Creative Arts Competition!

Wait! What? Really? Did we just win? It took a while for the announcement to sink in. Within a few seconds, we were on stage holding a big fake check worth $15,000. We had just won the Creative Arts Prize for most promising arts focused venture at MIT. For the first time, Tekuma was in the spotlight. A packed auditorium of over one thousand people watched as we accepted our prize. The feeling was simply amazing. But, wait, this is MIT! Robotics? Artificial intelligence? Data or virtual reality software? Nope. Tekuma transforms space with art in the best way possible. It has been exactly two years since Kun said “Hey man, this sucks! We need space to show our work.”...

Hi! We’re Tekuma.

We work out of an Airbnb in Cambridge. Our landlord may not know we run a business and an Airbnb from our apartment…but there is nothing we would have done differently. We meet awesome guests everyday and get to understand our product while working in it. We moved here in January and after a coat of paint on the wall, our space was ready! It is so nice to have our own space, and to share it with Airbnb travelers from around the world.  More importantly, we have been been able to put talented, local artists and designers on display, for guests from all over the world to see. It’s a win-win-win!

Decor Made Simple: DuMaine Design Tips

Hanging artwork is daunting. Between finding the perfect place and hammering nails into the walls, there are plenty of reasons to procrastinate. After installing hundreds of artworks, we get it. Placing the right art in the right space is something we take pride in. Here are some simple steps to...

Summer 2k16, Here We Come!

Meet the Tekuma dream team. We all met for the first time this morning at our summer office location in Cambridge – bright, spacious, colorful, and all ours. Together, we make eleven. This summer, we’re going to combine our talents in branding, content and web development, design, curation, photography, writing, and e-commerce to rocket launch our platform and, simultaneously, bring Tekuma to its full potential.  While Naomi, Kun, Stephen, and Marwan worked at the office, Jia, Kwaku, and Clio went on a curating mission. Their task was to bring art to space – what Tekuma does best. Together, they hand-selected prints based on the layout of the space. Color, size, and subject were all carefully considered and discussed. After furnishing the space...
