On Black Kitten

Decue has a particular love for our feline friends, and owns a cat of her own affectionally called Sashimi. This illustration is part of a personal series on the beloved creature, celebrating the friendship between a girl and her cat.

Treating this series as a personal project, Decue adds much complexity and playfulness to the illustration. Subtle trompe-oeils and uncanny composites can be observed here: the protagonist face and the book cover, the flower patterns on the dress and the vase, the earrings and the hair, the cover of the books on her desk…
